Everyone always said that I’d grow up to be a rock star! I don’t know if it was the big hair, the big mouth or the balls out determination to follow my dreams, but it just seemed like a given. And although I never had the opportunity to rock a crowd of 50,000 fans with blazing pyrotechnics in the background, I have come to the realization that “rock star” is really more of a state of mind than anything else! It’s all about living and loving to the fullest extent and putting it all on the table to pursue what you LOVE. For me, that love is photography. There is just something magical about capturing a moment in time, whether it’s the face of a newborn child or an old abandoned car, long forgotten, on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Anytime I have a camera in my hand, my heart sings (and I’m not talkin’ sweet Judy Garland stuff, but from the heart, no holds barred Janis Joplin stuff!)

Enjoying and performing music has always been a huge part of who I am, yet I chose the path of consistent income and gainful employment. While working as a counselor for kids, I began participating with the art therapy program. The sense of creating art began to take over. I purchased an old 35mm camera and lenses from the director of the facility and that was it… I was hooked. I dedicated the time to learn that camera inside and out, I read books on photography and lighting and I taught myself what was capable in capturing the still image.  I then put the two together and began shooting live bands and promo photos for local musicians. As I continued to grow, I gained experience in architectural and action/sports photography. I still keep my foot in the corporate world, yet still dedicate the time to play music and hold the camera. With TripleDogDare Photography, I provide support for my wife, and shoot for the clientele that require my particular expertise.
